DEA Leader

Nelson Santos BA '87 serves the Drug Enforcement Agency as Deputy Assistant Director of the Office of Forensic Sciences. He oversees more than 550 personnel across eight regional laboratories, six sub-regional labs and one research lab. Learn more about Nelson's career

Lab Manager

Anamary Tarifa PhD '15 manages FIU's Forensic & Analytical Toxicology Facility, running chromatographic instruments and training students and staff. As part of Dr. Jose Almirall's lab, she previously worked on a device to identify organic compounds in the air. Learn more about Anamary's work

Toxicology Expert

Maiko Kusano PhD '10, a forensic toxicology specialist, worked at Shimadzu Corporation in Kyoto, Japan, before becoming an assistant professor in Legal Medicine & Bioethics at Nagoya University. FBI Standout

Lilliana Moreno PhD '15 joined the FBI as a research biologist in the DNA Support Unit. She received the FBI Director's Award for Scientific Achievement (pictured, with former Director Robert Mueller) for her work on categorizing and databasing human DNA samples.
