The undergraduate Certificate in Forensic Science program educates students who want to pursue a laboratory career in the forensic sciences. It provides in-depth coursework and hands-on training to facilitate students' successful entry into a forensic laboratory position. The field of forensic science is interdisciplinary and requires significant academic and laboratory training in the natural sciences. The overall goal of the program is to deliver further technical preparation to become a working forensic scientist beyond that typically offered at the undergraduate level.
This program is designed primarily for FIU chemistry or biology majors but may also be completed by graduates of other institutions who meet all the prerequisite and program requirements. FIU BS in Chemistry or Biology majors who complete the program receive a certificate accredited by the Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission (FEPAC).
